Invest in yourself
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. In order to develop emotional intelligence we need to recognize our own strengths and weakness. Take a test because life is never easy and knowing yourself helps you navigate through challenges better.
Some of the character strengths that make life easier are ;
- Love of learning 2) Spirituality 3) creativity 4) Bravery 5) Love.
I am sure you can come up with a list of your own. According to the result of the survey one of my character strengths is bravery, which means not shirking challenging situations. I found that to be very accurate about myself.
I have discovered over the years that I show perseverance and persistence when faced with obstacles and difficult circumstances. I do believe that every event and every difficult situation arises in our life to challenge us as if demanding a change so we can adapt and evolve as human beings spiritually, psychologically, and emotionally. If we welcome the challenges positively with an open mind and learn through the unfolding events of life, we will discover our own strengths and weakness.
To me, it is a process of self-discovery. Once we discover our hidden potential, it brings surety, confidence, and certainty. Self-reliance and self-assurance are very valuable and cannot be taught but experienced through life events. It is through experiential learning that we begin our journey toward the road of self-discovery.
The second strength that I find to be true about myself is “spirituality’ which I believe is interconnected to bravery. According to the result of the survey, bravery also means speaking out in the face of opposition and acting on convictions even if it is unpopular. Once, a person reaches a religious conviction, he/she is confident that life is full of purpose and life is not an accident or passing through it aimlessly without direction and purpose.
Love is very important to me. I believe it is an emotion that makes us human and other emotions stem out of love. Due to love, we have compassion, kindness, and concern for others. Love is not limited to romantic relationships, but love for humanity. As we grow older and evolve we realize that we can distinguish between mature and immature love or selfish and unselfish love. All philanthropic activities are the result of unconditional love for humanity and a desire to work for the betterment of humanity and the society we live in.
Besides, bravery, love, spirituality, creativity, and love of learning are my signature strengths for me. It is a strong motivating force for me in my life. It is due to my love of learning and curiosity that I explore educational material that is not relevant to my course study. It is important to work for grades, but it is far more important to learn and grow through an educational experience. Therefore, learning to me is not limited to religious or educational institutions. Life teaches us all kinds of lessons, whether we want to learn or not. We just have to be open to new experiences and challenges.
The new strength that I would like to use in the future in a different way is creativity. I already tried to implement how to evolve and use creativity beyond oil painting, acrylic painting, and interior decoration which I already accomplished. I wanted to take creativity further so it can be translated into other aspects of my life, such as discovering new teaching strategies, directing students effectively, and organizing social events. All such activities need a new creative approach as well. So if you are interested in educating your mind and soul get in touch with me and let’s begin our journey together.
