Social Life & Modern life Challenges

A most famous proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Like many adages, this is not far from the truth. Raising children is the primary goal of a family unit, but multiple social factors shape a child’s life, such as family, school, and community. Family has always been a source of security and stability in my life. I was raised in a traditional family setting where my father was a breadwinner and my mother’s primary role was nurturing and providing quality care to the family. I realized that such a family structure provides the support, strength, and stability required for healthy development throughout a child’s life.

My mother was able to provide quality care and nurturing that created a lasting bond. The Lasting bond that was created in the early part of my life translated into other relationships, as I was growing older. Now that I compare parenting in the past and the future I realize that parenting underwent some major changes due to emerging new challenges of modern-day life such as single-parent households and high divorce rates.

Gender roles have shifted and a traditional family that consists of father, mother, and children is no longer a norm. I was lucky to be raised in a family that emphasized nurturing, education, love, and commitment to relationships.
