ASEP-PASSH Model towards Understanding the Quran.

Understanding the Quran requires a multifaceted approach, besides reading, reflecting, and contemplating. Muslims are encouraged to reflect deeply on the Quranic verses and ponder their meanings aligining heart, mind and soul. This involves introspection and applying the teachings to one’s life.

Engaging in Group Study: Participating in Quran study circles or discussions with peers can enrich one’s understanding through shared insights and perspectives. ASEP has developed a unique approach to analyzing the introspective study of the Quran engaging the heart, mind, and soul through PASSH Model.

Analyzing the Quran through a psychological perspective involves exploring its teachings, narratives, and themes about human psychology, emotions, behavior, and well-being. Here are some steps to analyze the Quran from a psychological standpoint:

  1. Psychological Themes: Identify psychological themes present in the Quran, such as resilience, patience, gratitude, forgiveness, core-cultural values, empathy, humility, and self-awareness. Reflect on how these themes relate to psychological well-being and personal growth.
  2. Cognitive Processes: Examine Quranic verses that address cognitive processes such as perception, reasoning, decision-making, and belief formation. Reflect on how these processes
  3. Integration with Psychological Theory: Connect Quranic insights with psychological theories and frameworks, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, positive psychology, existential psychology, and humanistic psychology. Explore areas of convergence and divergence between Quranic teachings and contemporary psychological perspectives.
  4. Psychological Well-being: By integrating psychological insights with Quranic teachings, individuals can deepen their understanding of human nature, enhance their self-awareness, and cultivate psychological well-being under Islamic principles.
